Sumba (Petjo: Soemba-eiland; Indonesian: pulau Sumba), natively also spelt as Humba, Hubba, Suba, or Zuba (in Sumba languages) is an Indonesian island (part of the Lesser Sunda Archipelago group) located in the Eastern Indonesia and administratively part of the East Nusa Tenggara provincial territory. Sumba has an area of 11,243.78 square kilometres (4,341.25 square miles), about the same size as Jamaica or Hawaii (Island). Itinerary
Upon arrival at Lede Kalumbang Airport (Tambolaka) by Wings Air at 12:00, you will be welcomed by our tour guide and then transferred to a local restaurant for lunch. After lunch, you will proceed to Sima Hotel for check-in. Afterward, you will head to Ratenggaro Village, known for its stunning traditional architecture and beautiful coastal views. Here, you can explore the village, learn about Sumbanese culture, and engage with the friendly locals. Later, you will visit Mandorak Beach, where you can relax on the soft white sand, enjoy the sound of the waves, and perhaps take a refreshing dip in the sea. Next, you will explore the enchanting Weekuri Lagoon, where you can swim in crystal-clear waters surrounded by lush greenery. Then, you will check in at Sima Hotel for an overnight stay. (L,D)
Day 2 WEST SUMBA
After breakfast, drive to West Sumba. You will first visit WEE LEO Village, located about 35 kilometers from Tambolaka on a hilltop. Here, you will interact with friendly locals and experience their traditional lifestyle while exploring Sumbanese architecture and impressive megalithic tombs. Next, you will go to Waikelo Sawah Waterfall, the water flows directly into the rice fields, creating a surreal and beautiful scene of nature working in harmony with local agriculture. After that going to the city for lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, you will visit Prai ijing Village, where you can capture photographs and learn about local traditions. We will then head to Lapopu Waterfall for some light trekking and swimming amidst stunning scenery. Then, return to Sima Hotel for Dinner and overnight stay. (B,L,D)
Day 3 TAMBULAKA CITY TOUR - AIRPORT
After breakfast at the hotel and check-out, you will be picked up by your guide and go to Katewel Beach to see the local People cooking salt, this is a central production salt in West Sumba to sell in every local market, and we drive back to Sumba Cultural House to learn about the island's rich history and cultural heritage. Next, explore the Talasi Foundation, an organization that focuses on empowering human resources/farmers to optimize their garden products, such as processing cashew nuts into milk. Afterward we take lunch at Local Restaurant before transfer to Lede Kalumbang Airport (Tambolaka) to return to your next destination. (B)
